Saor ó Dhramhaíl
Saor ó Dhramhaíl - Zero Waste
Our zero waste jacket is quilted with handpicked scraps of linen and handpainted remnants from our collection.
Co -Designer Edel McAvoy draws with thread using free motion embroidery, inspired by artwork in the wildkind book, creating a wearable, original artwork.
Designed to Grow:
Our reversible quilted jacket in Irish woven linen and silk organza is an artisanal handmade piece which has been carefully designed to grow with your child from ages 4 to 10+
Made to be worn for big days, wee days and all the other days in between. It can be passed down to be worn again again and eventually return to the earth where it will biodegrade naturally.
End of roll Irish Linen and silk organza is carefully sourced locally. By handpicking ‘last of their kind’ fabric we weave the greatest commodity, time, into each garment.
Irish Seed Labels:
Labels are handmade from scratch, starting by making our native Irish seed paper. When planted these labels will grow into native Irish wildflowers and the blue flowers of the linen / flax plant. In turn helping the endangered wild bee’s of Ireland. The labels also feature artwork from theWildkind book.
We Grow Slow:
10% of our profits go to We Grow Slow helping marginalised & refuge seeking children in the North of Ireland connect to the wild around us, nurturing a sense of place for all children.
Material:
Linen is a natural material made from the flax plant, can be grown without pesticides and using less water than many other crops. Linen is naturally anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic, and has been known through the ages as a healing cloth. The hollow fibres of linen ensure good thermo regulating properties, so its breathable on a warm day and keeps the heat in when its cold outside. It is stronger than cotton and last’s for years and years, getting softer with age.
